23-27 Strategic Plan Passed
Have you heard? On Monday night, our school board voted to approve our proposed strategic plan!
This is fantastic! In late November, early December, we embarked on the process of creating a strategic plan for our district. This process was no small feat and was only possible with the help of our community, staff, students, and parents. We partnered with Alan Coverstone from Insight Educational Group to help us facilitate this process. He provided guidance that was tailored with careful consideration to our district and the unique and incredible qualities that make Oregon City School District so special.
To kick it off, we asked for folks to volunteer their time to provide input, experiences, and feedback on a steering committee. This steering committee met once each month from January to May. We had over 100 folks ask to be apart of this committee. We were so thankful to have so many want to join us in this work, but only had room to choose 45 members. The committee selection consisted of students, providing their voice and perspective; parents, providing their experiences and insight to their student’s experiences; staff, providing their expertise and feedback.; and finally, community members, providing their connections and desire to help our students.
We discussed and listened to a wide array of different perspectives, concerns, desires, and experiences during this process. These helped formulate the realignment of our Mission, Vision, and Values, and the creation of our priorities and goals. We thank all of our stakeholders, parents, staff, and students for participating in the district-wide survey and focus groups. Your involvement was crucial to the creation of this plan. We want to thank our district leadership team for their dedicated review and feedback in this process, and for always keeping our students centered in the work. We want to thank our steering committee for going above and beyond in volunteering their time and insights and for holding thoughtful, considerate discussions. Finally, we want to thank each and every one of you. Thank you for joining us in embarking on this journey and we can’t wait to continue on with you in this adventure!
